Adding a song

You can add a song with a guided wizard or a full form. Both options save the same kind of song record.

1. Start from the site

1. Sign in to Diskograf.
2. Click Add Song in the top header. On a phone, open the menu first.
3. Choose an editor:
   • Step-by-step wizard takes you through one part at a time.
   • Classic form shows every section on one page.

If this is your first time using Diskograf, the site may ask you to complete your profile before it opens the editor.

2. Fill in the song details

The editor shows a progress list. Complete these required sections:

1. A valid YouTube video.
2. A song title.
3. At least one primary artist, such as the lead performer.
4. A release date.
5. An artwork source.
6. At least one genre.

Streaming links, labels, lyrics and notes are optional. If a title is all caps, the form asks you to confirm that the style is intentional. The form also warns you when the title contains the name of a primary artist.

3. Add the video and artwork

In YouTube Video, paste a YouTube URL or video ID. You can also click Find to search for the video. Diskograf can use the video to fill an empty title, release date and duration.

In Artwork, search Apple Music or Spotify. You can also enter a custom image URL or use the YouTube thumbnail. The preview uses this order:

1. Artwork found from Spotify or Apple Music.
2. A custom artwork URL.
3. The YouTube thumbnail.

4. Add artists and catalogue details

Scroll to Song Credits. Add each artist under the role that matches the source. Check the artist name and avatar before you select a result. For help with roles, read Credits and roles.

Add genres from the existing list. Add a label only when the release has one.

5. Save the record

Before you save, read the accuracy statement and confirm that the information is correct. Then click Add Song.

Your contribution is recorded on your account. The new song enters the review queue. It is not public until an administrator publishes it.

To see the new record later, click your avatar and choose Manage contributions.
