Editing a song
Fix a song record and track the contribution you made.
You can fix a song's title, release details, artwork, links, lyrics, genres, labels and credits from the song editor.
Open the editor
You need a signed-in account to suggest an edit.
For a published song:
- Open the song page.
- Scroll to the Contributors area. On a desktop, it is in the listening panel. On a phone, continue down the page until you reach it.
- Click Suggest an edit.
- Choose the section you want to change.
For a pending song that you added or edited:
- Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
- Choose Manage contributions.
- Find the song and click Edit.
Make and save the change
- Change only the fields that need correction.
- Check the progress list for required sections.
- Read the accuracy statement.
- Click Save.
Your edit is saved to your contribution history. A change to a published song updates that public record. A pending song stays pending until it is reviewed.
If you need an older version
Administrators can open a song's contribution history and choose an older version. The revert is saved as a new contribution, so the change remains traceable.
Use the existing record
If a song already exists, edit that song. Do not add a second copy to fix a mistake.
