Contributing well

Every contribution helps people trust the archive. Add sourced records, fix errors and record precise credits.

Start in the right place

• To add a missing song, sign in and click Add Song in the header.
• To fix an existing song, open it, scroll to Contributors, and click Suggest an edit.
• To add your own work, open the song, scroll to Contributors, and click Claim credit.

Check before you save

Before you click Add Song, Save or Claim credits, check that:

1. The song is in the scope of the Malaysian music archive.
2. The title, release date and YouTube video identify the same release.
3. The primary artist and every supporting credit use the correct artist and role.
4. The artwork belongs to the release, not just to the artist.
5. The genre and label match the release.
6. The record is not already in Diskograf.

Use the strongest available source. Keep writing, performing, technical and visual work in separate roles. Preserve the release's artist order.

Common reasons for a review problem

Common problems include:

• a missing YouTube video, release date, primary artist, artwork or genre;
• a title that includes a lead performer's name when it should not;
• all-caps text that has not been confirmed as intentional;
• a role that does not match the source;
• artwork, lyrics or links copied from a different release;
• a duplicate of an existing song;
• an artist claim that does not represent the person making it.

New songs enter the review queue. Administrators review them before publishing. Your edits remain in your contribution history.

Handle duplicates carefully

Search by title, artist and release details before adding a song. The add-song form shows possible matches and lets you go back. Add the record only when it is a separate release or recording.

If a song already exists, open that song and click Suggest an edit. Do not create a second copy to fix the first one.
